
On Leadership: A Virtual Literacy Leadership Symposium听
狈颁罢贰鈥檚 Conference on English Leadership (CEL) is excited to launch a new On Leadership virtual symposium on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET! Follow up on discussions from the 2024 CEL Convention and look ahead to #CEL25, participate in a book club or English Leadership Quarterly article study, engage in interactive discussions with other literacy leaders as we navigate the landscape of our education systems, and join us for a General 起点传媒 meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET.

Registration for this event will close at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 4. Registrants will receive a Zoom meeting invitation after registering and reminder emails in advance of the event.

Learning Objectives for the Symposium
- Literacy leaders will network with other leaders who are addressing similar opportunities and challenges in different schools to find effective practices to enact with (and empower) their teams.
- Literacy leaders will engage with published scholarship (via articles or books) and discuss how those ideas can shape, impact, and inform leadership decisions within their individual teams or contexts.
- Literacy leaders will participate in an interactive workshop to discuss advocating for intellectual freedom, cultivating hope, and creating meaningful gatherings within their individual teams or contexts.
Event Schedule and Overview
9:00鈥9:15 a.m. ET: Welcome and Introductions
9:15鈥10:15 a.m. ET: Book Club Discussion, Article Study, or Book Talks
After our welcoming session, the first round of hour-long breakouts will give attendees the opportunity to talk about our work via readings. You can read the selected English Leadership Quarterly article or the chosen book in advance (in whole or in part!) or contribute to our book recommendation conversation. You do not have to decide what session you will join in advance.
