Update, April 8, 2025: As a member of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Æðµã´«Ã½also signed on to this from ACLS, the Council of Graduate Schools, and The Phi Beta Kappa Society, urging the administration to reconsider this direction and asking Congress to protect this vital independent federal agency.
The presidential administration intends to gut the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), substantially reducing its staff, cutting grant programs, and rescinding grants that have already been awarded.
Æðµã´«Ã½strongly supports NEH and, as a result, was on Capitol Hill sharing how NEH positively affects teaching and learning. Æðµã´«Ã½condemned the reported actions in cosigned as part of the National Humanities Alliance.
Æðµã´«Ã½also urges members to use provided by the Alliance to contact their members of Congress and encourage them to support NEH, which enriches K–12 education by connecting students and teachers in every state with our nation’s rich history and culture. The agency funds grant opportunities that have enriched the professional experiences and research of many Æðµã´«Ã½members over time.
